A while back, I wrote on my addiction to stats on my personal blog. I’m kind of a nut about it. I want up-to-the-minute statistics on who is visiting my site, where from, total uniques, pageviews, incoming links, outgoing links, etc. I guess you could say that I’m a stat-a-holic. In fact, I use 3 separate stats programs to track my visitors.

I’ve never used wordpress.com before, so I’m not sure exactly what the commotion is behind WordPress releasing Automattic Stats. Evidently, users rave about how wonderful it is and have been complaining that the stats weren’t available for users who blog on their own host using the WordPress installation … so much so that the WordPress team has decided to make those stats available to users not using wordpress.com.

Obviously, I can’t ignore this. I will be installing this new plugin on some of my blogs, and I may even ask Brian to install it here on WPT. I want to see if this thing is any better than all the other stats programs available out there. If it is, I may add it to my arsenal of other stats programs :-) I’m a sucker, I know :-)

I’ll give a review after I’ve had time to play with it for a little while.

UPDATE:
I just saw that Darren Rowse linked over to Muhammed Saleem’s review. Check it out.
