What’s new with WordPress Themes?

WordPress 2.3 has come and gone. The latest version of WordPress is now 2.5.1, so be sure to upgrade to it for the latest security fixes, not to mention cool new features.

As far as we can tell, old WordPress themes will not be much of a problem, but theme designers might want to take advantage of Gravatar support, for example.

WordPress Themes has a new manager! I’m Randa Clay, and I am pleased to be taking over this site. It’s been a good resource for me, having been a subscriber since the site began some months ago, and I hope to continue to provide helpful and interesting content. I think WordPress is the best blogging and content management system available, and I want to help make it easy to find great themes, provide hints to customizing them, and solving problems as we go along.

So, is everyone looking forward to the release of version 2.3 on Monday? Over at Weblog Tools Collection there is a nice roundup of articles about the new features that are coming in the new version, such as tags and plugin update notifications. As much as I dread the upgrade process, I am looking forward to a new version.

WordPress Themes is pleased to announce that we will be offering lists of themes made available to the public based on category.

You will see category lists in the sidebar of our website that will link to various WordPress theme categories – we hope this will become a huge resources too anyone looking to download a WordPress theme.

We are proud to announce that WordPress Themes is officially online, and ready to go. It has been an exceptionally fun project to develop, and I look forward to contributing here as both a blogger and designer.

A little about the website… the domain itself is owned by Splashpress Media, and is not affiliated with the official WordPress site. We fully support the efforts of Matt Mullenweg, and those at Automattic.

For those of you who are wondering what you can expect here, that’s a simple answer. We will be posting about design tips, ways to enhance your blog, how to monetize your blog through design, as well as offer WordPress themes and styles.
